Hints for a Great Park Visit

park map

The weather can get hot, and you may wish to bring drinks. (Food is not permitted in the Park.) We have a water fountain and a soft drink machine available, but we do not have indoor plumbing. We have port-a-potties (one is handicap accessible).

We have buildings with heat and air conditioning; however, most of our programs take place outside, so dress for the weather.

Our animals are almost always visible, but they are most active near dawn and dusk, and in cooler weather. Howl Nights are a great time to see lots of activity.

Roads and pathways are gravel. Good walking shoes are recommended. Strollers are welcome, but they may be hard to push. Walks are taken at an easy pace.

Guided tours are walking tours that take approximately 1 hour with a distance of 1/2 mile. You do not have to take a walking tour when you visit our facility, but you are more likely to see more wolves if you take a walking tour.

Photography is permitted and encouraged. There will be a fence between you and the animals most of the time, but there is a building with windows through which you may photograph, and the adventurous may be able to photograph over the fence from the back rows of our bleachers. (For people really interested in animal photography, we offer photography seminars and photo shoots, for which you must register in advance.)

Our animals are behind a six-foot chain-link fence and a safety fence. There is generally no opportunity to interact with them personally during normal open hours. If you would like to help support Wolf Park and meet one of our animals in person, you may adopt one of our wolves. Wolf sponsors may visit their animals by appointment only, and restrictions may apply.

Wolf Park is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of wolves in captivity and in the wild through behavioral research and education.
